What is the cheapest way to get a real sauna at home in Dubai?
A supplied-and-installed infrared cabin from about AED 28,000, running on a standard socket circuit. The cheapest traditional sauna with a proper heater is a compact two-person custom cabin from about AED 65,000. Is it cheaper to buy a prefab sauna and have it installed?
Sometimes, for the cabin itself. The electrical work, DEWA submission and ventilation cost the same either way, and a prefab that does not fit the room wastes space. We compare the two on the prefab versus custom page.
Do you charge for the site visit or the first concept?
No. The site visit and the concept sketch with a budget band are free across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The detailed design set carries a fee that is credited against the contract.
What are the running costs of a home spa?
A sauna used three evenings a week costs roughly AED 70 to 80 a month in electricity; a cold plunge chiller AED 90 to 180 a month in summer; a steam room about the same as a sauna. A full suite with a hammam slab is the biggest load, typically AED 400 to 700 a month in use. The cost guide shows the arithmetic.
Does a private spa add value to a Dubai villa?
Agents in Dubai Hills, Emirates Hills and Palm Jumeirah consistently list a finished wellness suite among the features that shorten time on market for premium villas. We cannot promise a resale figure, but a documented, warranted installation with DEWA approval is a selling point; an undocumented one is a liability at handover inspection.
Do I need DEWA approval for a sauna?
For a heater above roughly 4.5 kW, yes. The dedicated circuit is a load change that a DEWA-registered consultant submits with a single-line diagram and a load calculation. We prepare and submit it. Full explanation.
Do I need a developer NOC?
In master-planned communities such as Emaar, Nakheel, Dubai Holding, Damac and Majid Al Futtaim developments, any modification to the villa services normally requires a community NOC. It is a formality with the right drawings and we handle it.
Can my apartment building refuse a sauna?
Building management can refuse a heater that changes the electrical load or a wet room that changes drainage. They rarely refuse a plug-in infrared cabin. The apartment guide describes what gets approved.
How much power does a sauna need?
Roughly 1 kW per cubic metre of room, more with glass. A two-person cabin needs 4.5 to 6 kW, a four-person 8 to 9 kW on three-phase, a six-to-eight seat glass sauna 10.5 to 15 kW. Heater sizing guide.
Do Abu Dhabi and Sharjah have the same rules?
The physics is the same; the authority differs. Abu Dhabi submissions go to ADDC, Sharjah to SEWA, and both have their own consultant registration. Timelines are similar to DEWA.
Which wood is best for a sauna in the UAE?
Thermo-treated aspen for walls and benches in most villas: stable in air-conditioned dryness, no resin, no splinters, a warm honey colour. Western red cedar for scent and exterior use. Alder for pale interiors. Avoid untreated pine and dark hardwoods inside. Wood guide.
Sauna, steam room or hammam?
Sauna for dry heat, lowest running cost and easiest retrofit. Steam room for wet heat in a bathroom-sized footprint. Hammam for the architectural, social experience with a heated slab. Comparison.
Can a sauna go outdoors in Dubai?
Yes, with a shade structure, a ventilated roof cavity and a cabin built for the climate. The catch is not the heat inside but the sun on the shell. Outdoor saunas in a Dubai summer.
How big should a home sauna be?
Two people sit comfortably in 1.8 × 1.6 m; four in 2.4 × 2.0 m; six to eight in 3.0 × 2.4 m with an upper bench. Ceiling height 2.1 to 2.3 m; taller wastes heat. Size drives heater size and therefore power.
Can the sauna have a glass wall?
Yes, and in Palm Jumeirah and Al Barari it is the most requested feature. Tempered 8 to 10 mm glass, a heater sized about 30 % larger, and a control strategy that keeps the bench warm despite the glass.
Moroccan bath or Turkish hammam: how do they differ?
A Moroccan bath centres on black soap, a kessa scrub and rhassoul clay in a warm humid room finished in tadelakt and zellige. A Turkish hammam centres on a heated marble platform and a foam massage under a dome. Both can be built in a villa. Hammam service.
Can a cold plunge stay cold in August?
Yes, with a chiller sized for 34 °C inlet water and a 45 °C plant room, an insulated basin and a shaded condenser. Chiller sizing.
Snow room or cold plunge?
A plunge is cheaper, faster and delivers the stronger physiological shock. A snow room is gentler, works for guests who will not submerge, and is a statement. Many full suites have both. Comparison.
Does a salt room help with Dubai dust?
Dry salt aerosol from a halogenerator is used to ease respiratory irritation; many clients build salt rooms for exactly that reason. It is a wellness room, not a medical device, and we say so on the salt room page.
Is a hyperbaric chamber safe at home?
Soft-shell chambers at 1.3 to 1.5 ATA and certified hard-shell cabins are installed in Dubai homes and clinics. Installation needs a ventilated room, an oxygen concentrator and a maintenance contract. Medical use is a decision for a physician. Hyperbaric cabins.
How long does a project take?
Infrared cabin one to two weeks, custom sauna eight to twelve, steam room six to ten, hammam twelve to twenty, full suite sixteen to twenty-eight. Table on the process page.
How often does a sauna need maintenance in Dubai?
An annual service visit: heater elements and stones, controls, door seals, ventilation and timber. Steam generators need descaling every six to twelve months because of the water hardness. Maintenance checklist.
Do you repair saunas and steam rooms built by other companies?
Yes. Heater and generator replacement, control faults, waterproofing failures and timber refits are covered on the maintenance and repair page.
What is the warranty?
Two years on workmanship and waterproofing, plus the manufacturer warranty of two to five years on equipment.
Can I try building part of it myself?
