A salt room in Dubai costs AED 90,000 to 220,000 turnkey and takes eight to twelve weeks. It is a cool, dry room, 20 to 22 °C and under 50 % humidity, where a halogenerator disperses a fine dry salt aerosol while you sit for thirty to forty-five minutes. In a city where dust, sandstorms and air-conditioned dryness irritate the airways for much of the year, it has become one of the most requested rooms in a villa wellness suite. What halotherapy is, and what we do not claim
Dry salt therapy uses a halogenerator to grind pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride into particles of one to five microns and disperse them into the room air at a controlled concentration. Users sit or recline, breathe normally, and report that the air feels easier and the skin calmer afterwards. Salt rooms are used in wellness facilities across Europe and increasingly in Dubai clinics for that reason.
We build the rooms; we do not make medical claims for them. A salt room is a wellness room. Anyone with asthma, COPD or another respiratory condition should ask their physician before regular use, and we say the same to every client. What is in a salt room from Sauna Dubai
- Halogenerator. A wall-mounted or concealed medical-grade unit with a timer, concentration control and a salt hopper, using pharmaceutical salt, not the decorative kind.
- Dedicated air handling. A small supply-and-extract unit with a filter, feeding the room at 20 to 22 °C and below 50 % humidity, held slightly negative so the aerosol never leaks into the villa ducts. This is the part that most imported salt rooms in Dubai skip, and it is why their salt clumps and their AC coils corrode.
- Salt walls. Backlit Himalayan salt bricks on one or two walls, laid on an adhesive system rated for salt, with warm LED behind them.
- Salt floor. 40 to 60 mm of coarse salt over a sealed floor with a heated edge, raked weekly, replaced annually.
- Loungers and lighting. Zero-gravity loungers with blankets, a dimmable warm scene and a starlight ceiling if wanted; children’s rooms get a sandpit-style salt play area.
- Finishes. Walls in micro-cement, timber or salt plaster; no fabrics that hold salt, no chrome.

Each band includes design and visualisation, the halogenerator, air handling, salt walls and floor, loungers, lighting, electrical work and commissioning with a two-year workmanship warranty.
Where it fits in the house
A salt room is a dry, cool room, so it belongs on the calm side of the spa, away from the steam. In Dubai Hills, Arabian Ranches and Mudon family villas it is often the room parents build for the children and end up using themselves. In Emirates Hills and Al Barari suites it sits between the relaxation lounge and the hyperbaric cabin, forming a recovery wing separate from the hot rooms. In Abu Dhabi and Sharjah it is frequently paired with a hammam as a two-room family spa. It needs a floor drain only for cleaning, a 20 A circuit, and a route for the air-handling ducts to a filtered outdoor grille.
Air, dust and humidity: the Gulf conditions
Dry salt only works dry. Villa air in Dubai is dry indoors thanks to the AC, which suits the room, but a salt room opened to a corridor after a steam session, or fed by a return grille from the pool area, will draw in humidity and the salt will clump on the walls and in the halogenerator. Our air handling keeps the room closed: filtered supply, extract to outside, a door seal, and a controller that holds 45 % humidity. Dust is the other enemy; the supply filter is a G4 plus F7 stage and is changed at the annual service. The result is a room that smells faintly of salt and nothing else.
Power and approvals
A halogenerator draws under 500 W, the air handling unit 1 to 2 kW, lighting a few hundred watts. Nothing here needs a DEWA load change on a villa; the circuits are included in the electrical submission when the salt room is built together with a sauna, steam room or plunge, as it usually is in a villa wellness suite. Community NOCs are needed only where the external air-handling grille changes the elevation of the villa.
Eight to twelve weeks
Two weeks of design, four to six weeks for the salt brick, halogenerator and air-handling unit, two to three weeks on site with no wet works. Commissioning includes calibrating the aerosol concentration, setting the room climate and running a first session with you. Annual service under the maintenance plan replaces the salt floor, cleans the halogenerator, changes the filters and checks the humidity control before the summer.
