A sauna in Dubai costs AED 28,000 to 55,000 for an installed infrared cabin, AED 65,000 to 140,000 for a custom two-to-four-seat sauna and AED 140,000 to 260,000 for a six-to-eight-seat room with a glass wall, all turnkey. Those are our benchmarks from villa and penthouse projects across Dubai, and this article breaks them into their parts so you can read any quotation you receive and see what is missing from it.
Where the money goes in a custom sauna
Take a four-seat custom sauna, 2.4 × 2.0 m, in a Dubai Hills villa garage bay, quoted at AED 118,000 turnkey. The lines:

Two things stand out. The cabin is less than half of the price, and the parts most often missing from a cheap quotation, the electrical work, the DEWA submission, the ventilation and the commissioning, add up to about a fifth. A quotation of AED 80,000 for the same room has usually left them out, and you pay for them later, separately, with a different contractor. The five decisions that move the price
- Glass. A glass door costs AED 4,000 to 7,000. A full-height 10 mm glass wall costs AED 18,000 to 45,000 and requires a heater roughly 30 % larger. On Palm Jumeirah and in Al Barari it is the single biggest optional cost.
- Heater and controls. A Harvia or EOS heater of 9 kW with a wall control is standard. App control, a second heater for fast warm-up and a heater with a large stone mass for stronger löyly add AED 3,000 to 14,000. The heater sizing guide shows how kilowatts are chosen.
- Timber. Thermo-aspen is the standard and the right choice for air-conditioned villas. Alder and cedar are similar in cost; a full re-clad in a premium species such as thermo-ash adds 10 to 15 %.
- The room shell. A garage bay or a basement room with a drain and a three-phase supply nearby is the cheapest place in the house. A garden pavilion needs foundations, a shade structure and a trench, which is why outdoor saunas start at AED 180,000.
- Power. If the DB board has spare capacity, the electrical package is as above. If the villa supply is full, a DEWA load enhancement adds AED 8,000 to 25,000 and four to eight weeks, and is worth doing once for the whole house rather than for the sauna.
Infrared: the entry point
An installed infrared cabin costs AED 28,000 to 34,000 for one person, AED 34,000 to 44,000 for two and AED 44,000 to 55,000 for three with full-spectrum panels. The cabin is most of the price because there is no heater circuit, no DEWA submission and no ventilation to pay for, which is why it is the sauna most Marina and Downtown apartments end up with. Prefab versus custom
A prefabricated cabin of European origin costs AED 35,000 to 65,000 supplied, and installed with the electrical work, the DEWA submission and ventilation it lands at AED 55,000 to 90,000. That is AED 10,000 to 30,000 below a custom sauna of the same size. The saving is real when the room is a plain rectangle and you accept the cabin’s bench layout; it evaporates when the room is an odd shape, when you want glass, or when the sauna is part of a suite. What a sauna costs to run in Dubai
DEWA’s residential tariff is stepped; a villa with a spa is almost always in the top slab, roughly 0.40 to 0.45 AED per kWh with the fuel surcharge. A 9 kW heater takes about 45 minutes to reach temperature and then cycles at roughly half load, so a ninety-minute session uses about 9 kWh. Three sessions a week is 27 kWh, about AED 12; over a month, AED 50 to 55 for the heater, AED 70 to 80 including the ventilation fan and lighting. A two-person infrared cabin used every day uses about 1.2 kWh per session, under AED 25 a month. A cold plunge chiller adds AED 90 to 180 a month in summer, as set out on the cold plunge page.
What quietly doubles a quotation
- A sauna quoted without installation, delivered to the door in crates.
- A heater with no brand, no parts in the UAE and no DEWA-compliant documentation.
- “Electrical by others,” which means you are now the main contractor.
- No ventilation drawing, which means a damp room within a year.
- No commissioning, so nobody has stood in the room at 85 °C and checked the upper bench.
